你是不是也经历过:辛辛苦苦写完一篇Essay,结果教授批注一句——‘Too informal’?
? 别再用‘我觉得’开头了!
刚来加拿大的中国学生最容易踩的坑,就是把中文表达习惯直接“翻译”成英文。比如写“I think the government should…” —— 在学术写作里这叫主观臆断!教授要的是证据支撑,不是你的“感觉”。
✅ 正确姿势是换成:Evidence suggests that... 或 Research indicates a trend toward... 这样一改,立马从“聊天”升级成“论证”。
? 用词要“冷”一点,别太热情
很多同学喜欢用超有情绪的词,像‘amazing’, ‘terrible’, ‘super important’——听着挺带感,但在学术圈眼里=不专业。
? 亲测有效的替换方案:
- ❌ ‘This policy is terrible.’ → ✅ ‘This policy has significant limitations.’
- ❌ ‘The results are amazing!’ → ✅ ‘The findings are noteworthy.’
- ❌ ‘They totally failed.’ → ✅ ‘The initiative did not achieve its intended outcomes.’
? 被动语态和名词化,是高级感密码
加拿大高校超爱“去人化”表达。比如不要写 ‘Scientists found that…’,而是改成:It was observed that... 或 The data indicate...,瞬间显得客观又严谨。
? 再举个真实例子:UBC心理学课上,我把 ‘People got stressed when they had deadlines’ 改成 Increased stress levels were reported in response to deadline pressure,分数直接从B+冲到A-!
? 实用总结:
- 删掉I think/feel这类主观开头,换成基于文献或数据的表达。
- 多翻《Academic Phrasebank》(曼大官网免费资源),直接抄模板都不怕查重。
